The effect of BCAA supplementation on central fatigue
There are many and complex factors leading to central nervous system fatigue, one of which is the change of neurotransmitter level caused by exercise.
5-HT is an important inhibitory neurotransmitter in the central nervous system, which is mainly metabolized by tryptophan. Both tryptophan and BCAA are transported across the blood-brain barrier by the same carrier, and tryptophan and BCAA compete with the carrier for binding.
