Soybeans-a good friend for the heart

May 21, 2021 Leave a message

A new study published recently by St. Michael's Hospital in Toronto, Canada in the Journal of Nutrition shows that soy protein has the effect of lowering cholesterol. Researchers comprehensively analyzed data from 46 related meta-tests and found that soy protein reduced adult low-density lipoprotein cholesterol ("bad" cholesterol) by 3% to 4%. Although this value is small, it can play a more significant role in preventing cardiovascular and cerebrovascular diseases. The lead author of the study, Dr. David Jenkins, believes that despite the limitations of the new study, the results can prove that soy protein is closely related to heart health. People who are accustomed to eating high-saturated fat foods or meat, if they can eat more soy products, their cholesterol levels will be reduced more significantly.
