Vitamin B2 powder, also known as riboflavin, its chemical structure is a derivative of isoalloxazine with a ribose side chain. Vitamin B2 powder is an orange-yellow crystal with a bitter taste and poor water solubility, and the aqueous solution exhibits yellow-green fluorescence. It is insoluble in organic solvents, stable in acidic solutions, and can withstand short-term high-pressure heating, but it is easily destroyed when heated in alkaline solutions.

Vitamin B2 is absorbed in the upper part of the small intestine, and after absorption, it is phosphorylated in the intestinal wall, partly in the liver and blood, and forms two coenzymes in the form of phosphate ester in the tissue. One coenzyme is flavin mononucleotide (FMN) and the other is flavin adenine dinucleotide (FAD). FMN is produced by vitamin B2 and ATP catalyzed by flavin kinase, and FAD is produced by FMN and ATP catalyzed by flavin nucleotide pyrophosphoesterase. Both coenzymes FMN and FAD are combined with enzyme proteins called flavoproteins, also known as flavoenzymes.
In recent years, the use of vitamin B2 has been newly discovered. It has the functions of diuresis, detumescence, cancer prevention, treatment of yellow water sores and hyperischemic globin disease. It has significant anti-platelet aggregation (PAT) and protective ischemic myocardium effects on acute myocardial infarction, animal models.
