1. Product Introduction
HSF's Phytosterol, or Plant Sterol Powder is a kind of white or almost white powder extracted from soybean oil distillate. It is a series of phytosterols with various specifications and uses in various fields by using the by-products of vegetable oil as raw materials through HSF's patented technology. In 2021, HSF Biotech has taken the lead in obtaining cGMP certification for phytosterols in the industry.
1.1 What Are Plant Sterols?
It is also known as phytosterols, a kind of steroid, that is widely distributed in the biological world. Phytosterols are natural active compounds, including β-sitosterol, stigmasterol, brassicasterol, campesterol, etc.
1.2 Chemical structure and CAS No.
Phytosterols all have cyclopentane polyhydrophenanthrene as the basic structure and contain alcohol groups. They are divided into β-sitosterol, stigmasterol, brassicasterol and campesterol by different side chains.

5. Function
Phytosterols usually coexist with oils and fats in plant seeds and play a very important role in cell organization and cell development.

6. Applications
3.1 Plant Sterol Powder applies in the food and healthcare products industry
In 1999, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) approved the "healthy" label on foods fortified with phytosterols and phytosterol esters.
In 2010, phytosterols and phytosterol esters were allowed to be added to food as new resource foods (the third new resource food notification in 2010 by the Food Safety Comprehensive Coordination and Health Supervision Bureau of the Ministry of Health of the People's Republic of China).
Natural phytosterols have been shown to be useful in the following food applications: vegetable oils, vegetable butters, margarines, dairy products, vegetable protein drinks, dressings, salad dressings, mayonnaise, juices, pasta, noodles and vegetarian cereals.
