1. Product Introduction
Plant Sterol Ester is a kind of light yellow oily paste, mainly obtained from natural phytosterols by esterification.
Phytosterols are mainly found in vegetable oils, grains and their by-products, fruits and vegetables. They have a steroidal structure similar to cholesterol and have the effect of stabilizing the phospholipid bilayer structure in cell membranes. Numerous studies have shown that high levels of cholesterol in the blood (especially high levels of LDL cholesterol) are a major factor in causing physical diseases. In recent years, there has been a growing desire to reduce serum cholesterol levels by reducing the amount of cholesterol extracted from marketed diets. In 1999, the United States approved the use of the "healthy" label on foods containing phytosterols. Therefore, phytosterols are also known as "the key to life" and are widely used in food, medicine, health care products and other industries.
Although phytosterol has good nutritional and health care effects, its solubility in water or oil is very low, which limits its storage, processing, biological circulation and physiological effects in food and health products. When the hydroxyl group at the C-3 position of sterol is esterified with fatty acid to form sterol ester, sterol ester has enhanced lipophilicity compared with phytosterol, making it more effective in lowering cholesterol, and also making phytosterol ester easy to exist in fat-containing food middle. Clinical studies have shown that adults can effectively reduce cholesterol by taking 1.3g of phytosterol esters per day.
