Stigmasterol is one major phytosterol and is made from soybean phytosterol ester. Due to its unique structure, stigmasterol is used as raw material for the synthesis of brassinolide, a popular plant growth regulator. Stigmasterol is found in fats and oils of soybean, rapeseed and calabar beans and other vegetables, nuts, legumes, seeds and unpasteurized milk.
